The Chemung River is named after an Algonquin word meaning “place of the big horn” because of mammoth tusks that were found upon its banks.  The Big Horn Lacrosse Club has been developed to provide high quality instruction and to give local players an opportunity to compete at a high level.

Big Horn Lacrosse was developed to provide a safe, fun, supportive, and encouraging environment for boys to learn individual and team lacrosse skills.  Participation in youth lacrosse means introduction to a strong fraternity of lacrosse families that play and support the game throughout their lives. The Big Horn Lacrosse Club members will play with and against boys that they will know in grade school, high school, college and throughout their adult lives. Our goal is to introduce the player to the game, develop, and nurture their skills at the depth and pace that suits them and their family. Boys that have interest and show a commitment to lacrosse will be given every opportunity to explore playing the game at advanced levels. The satisfaction of seeing our boys become young men and playing / honoring the game in high school and perhaps college is the victory we seek.
